Freezing rain and drizzle bring the potential for icing and slick conditions later Thursday morning and afternoon in the Omaha area.Most of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa will be under a winter weather advisory through the remainder of the day.The National Weather Service is reporting icing conditions in south-central Nebraska. Grand Island, Hastings and Kearney are expected to see more steady freezing drizzle by 9 a.m., according to the weather service.The Nebraska State Patrol said Interstate 80 will be shut down west of Sidney due multiple crashes involving vehicles and semi trucks that have blocked traffic.Freezing rain and drizzle are expected to fall in the Omaha area mainly between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Expect slick conditions in Omaha for the lunch hour. Freezing rain will transition to rain as temperatures climb above 32 degrees later in the afternoon.Chilly, light rain is projected for the evening drive home in the metro. Icing will still be a concern north and west of the metro during the P.M. commute.
